WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a family of wireless communications standards for fixed stations. The name "WiMAX" was created by the WiMAX Forum.

The forum describes WiMAX as a standard based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access.
